I think you can learn about being more
environmentally with others. In my case I have learn about recycling with my
friends, in the university there a group that works in an orchard. My dad recycles
and uses a bicycle, he tries not to take bags and in his business people buy
with reusable containers, for example to buy rice, sugar, flour, etc. I try not
to throw cigar butts on the floor, do not use plastics or waste water.
The Chilean government has no interest in
promoting recycling because there is no business behind a measure to favor the environment;
we have seen it with the hydroelectric plants, with the natural parks that are
now being granted by the current government. The last government, banned
plastic bags in the entire Chileans coast, but generated a business with cloth bags.
We lack public and social policies on recycling and the environment, so that we
have a culture of recycling, respect and care for our environment. If the
government does not do it, less will the people.
The items that most people recycle are bottles,
cartons milk, paper, cardboard, jars and tins. As well the people can decided
not to buy plastic anymore and use only glass if possible or use the bicycle in
replacement of the car. There are people that make its own detergent, shampoo,
bas soap, etc. Make your own personal hygiene tools is a very good way to take
care of the environment!!
This is the space that Mother Nature has given
us and we must return that space healthy once we go physically.
